Bridge Clinic

The Bridge Clinic is a free, student run, medical clinic for adults who do not qualify for any other healthcare services and need medical attention. The clinic provides an exciting opportunity for social work students to have a rewarding, hands-on experience with clients while being a part of a medical treatment team.

USF medical students and social work students evaluate each client using a collaborative approach. This approach enhances each discipline’s understanding of the presenting medical problem and the social/environmental challenges that impact the client. Assessment, interviewing, supportive counseling, resource referral, education, advocacy and documentation are skills social work students can learn while volunteering at the clinic. USF social work professors and community social workers provide supervision and support to student volunteers. Participation in the clinic allows students to improve their readiness for their internship and helps to further synthesize classroom learning into active practice. The clinic needs both BSW and MSW students to serve as volunteers, some will become clinic social work leaders so to assure continuation of the clinic function. Please consider volunteering. For more information please contact Vanessa Bonet, Bridge Clinic Social Work Coordinator at vbonet@mail.usf.edu.
